Can I swim and shower in my jewelry?
Nope-- not a good idea! Water and jewelry do not mix regardless of material! Keep your pieces dry to keep them dazzling.
Will my jewelry tarnish?
Just like sold gold, our metals can tarnish over time due to perfume, sweat, soap, chemicals, and even your unique body chemistry. Ever notice your skin darken under jewelry? That can happen depending on your pH, lotions, or even if your iron levels are low—it’s like your body has its own secret science experiment!
The good news? Tarnish is no match for a polishing cloth and a little Dawn dish soap for gold-filled jewelry-- and Brasso or a vinegar mix for brass! They’ll have your jewelry shining like new in no time.
That said, if you wear your jewelry nonstop—especially while swimming or showering—our finest chains may darken permanently. Treat your pieces to some TLC, and they’ll treat you to a lifetime of sparkle!
Metals Used
Our jewelry features a range of metals, from bold brass to timeless gold-filled. Worried about sensitive ears? Don’t be—all earring posts and parts that touch the ear are hypoallergenic for maximum comfort.

Jewelry Care
How to Keep Your Florit and Fauna Jewelry Forever Fabulous
Your Florit and Fauna jewelry is made to stand the test of time—when given the TLC it deserves! Follow these simple tips to keep your unique, handmade pieces shining bright:
- Skip the Splashes: Jewelry and water don’t mix! Keep your treasures out of the shower, bath, pool, or ocean—because even high-quality metals have their limits.
- Beauty Before Bling: Let lotions, sunscreen, perfume, or any products fully dry before adorning yourself. Your jewelry will thank you!
- Gentle TLC: Clean gold-filled pieces with a polishing cloth, a bit of warm water, and Dawn dish soap. For intricate designs, a soft toothbrush works wonders.
- Shine Bright: To give your brass jewelry a glow-up, use a cloth and Brasso and rub gently. No Brasso? No problem! Mix equal parts white vinegar and salt to create a cleaning paste. Apply it to your brass jewelry, let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Be sure to dry it completely. This method is perfect for tackling verdigris—the green patina that loves to crash your brass party. Shine on!
- Home Sweet Home: When not dazzling the world, store your jewelry in a cloth bag to prevent tarnish and scratches.
Love your pieces like the works of art they are, and they’ll keep sparkling for a lifetime!
